Shooting the trailer – Saturday 9th July 2011
For those of you who read the post on Location Scouting for the Trailer, you will have read about the rather complex shoot we engineered for ourselves.
To enable all the locations be shot in one day meant one thing – a really early start and a very late finish.
The opening shot sees Greg Hatton (Charlie) about to be shot, and we really wanted that ‘dawn’ feel and an inky blue sky.
And so it was that we met at the steps of Coopers Park in Bellevue Hill at the ungodly call time of 5.30am on a Saturday morning. Whilst waiting for everyone to arrive, numerous revellers staggered past us on their way home to bed after a big night on the tiles!
From Coopers Park, we then moved to Nicks place for egg and bacon butties and well needed tea and coffee, to shoot the scenes with John McNeil and Alex Parkes.
Next stop was Thai Terrific on Curlewis Street to shoot the scene with Scott Witt and Felix Dean. St xxx church was next up for the scene with Annie Byron, before Kate Ritchie arrived for her scenes outside the shops in North Bondi.
two more scenes were required with Kate at the house of our good friends Ropey and Vered in Ben Buckler before we shot the money shot at North Bondi overlooking Bondi Beach. Mother Nature was on our side as we were treated to an amazing sunset.
We then needed to wait for darkness so incredibly we managed a quick schooner at North Bondi Italian before shooting the scenes with Jane Thomson on the beach (full marks for Jane who had to be in singlet and fishermans pants as a freezing southwesterly hit the shores)
Lauren xxxx then arrived for her scene and we then decamped back to Nicks place for the final sceance scene, whilst Nick cooked a spag bol, and the cast and crew tucked into some well needed beers and wines.
A big big thank you to the cast and crew who put in a monster effort with such good grace and utter professionalism.
