Bondi Dreaming workshop for Balinese School of Dramatic Arts
So the 8 of us are back from Bali! It’s been a huge week away and we all feel that the play is in even better shape as a result. Watch this space for our diaries and videos.
One of the objectives of our trip to Bali was of course to rehearse.
Now whilst there was plenty of space at our villa, the temptation of Bintang beers chilling in the fridge next to our inviting pool, probably wasn’t inducive to optimum rehearsing. So we got in touch with the Balinese School of Dramatic Arts aka BaliSODA, run by the lovely Maria who kindly allowed us to rehearse at her school.
“What can we do in return” we proclaimed, to which she came up with the idea of us running a workshop for her students. And so it as that on Friday 14th October, the 8 of us ran a 3hr workshop for 20 students at the SLK School(Sekolah Lentera Kasih) , Bali
Below is the powerpoint showing the agenda. All 8 of us spoke for 5 – 10 minutes on our role within the show, and had to provide a motto that we run our craft by, and also state our favourite film and actor.
We then split into groups and Sam took us through some warm up exercises. Then we had to write a short script, rehearse and perform it in front of everyone.
It was a lovely afternoon and I think we might have got more out of it than the students! There was some real talent in the room!
We received some nice feedback from Maria
Glad to hear from you. The kids had such a great time and the parents have gloated to me, one in particular that her son has changed and become more confident! Great you guys, thank you.
Thanks once again for everything and I wish you well for a most successful show in November. We all wish we could come and see it.
Regards to the rest of the crew.
