Greg started acting at the age of 12 while attending The Hills Grammar School in Kenthurst, NSW. He was one of 16 young Australian actors chosen to attend the annual Thespian Conference in San Antonio, Texas in 1989. On his return home he was accepted into The Mcdonald College of the Performing Arts where he won the prestigious Anne Mcdonald Scholarship for Acting. In 1991 he was cast as Mark Smith on Home and Away.

After leaving the show Greg focused his attention on his love for the theatre. Over the next 15 years he starred in over 50 plays including Lost in Yonkers, Cosi, Hamp, Wolf Lullaby, Airsick and The Crucible. Most recently he played Charlie in Sam Atwell’s acclaimed prison drama Bondi Dreaming which is being remounted for the second time as part of the 2011 TRS season. Greg has appeared in many short films and in 2004 he was awarded Best Actor and Best Film at The Shootout 24hr film festival for his short Keepin it Hard. Some of his other short films include Little Australia and Single White Farmer alongside Barry Otto and the banking satire Super Massive Bankers which he wrote, produced and directed.

In 2007 Hatton appeared in the Edgerton Brothers debut feature film The Square and has since played lead roles in Mindfire and the eagerly anticipated Australian feature Bedlam. His recent TV credits include Home and Away, My Place 2 and Packed to the Rafters.
